Visual Anthropology in Sichuan Province
My college sent students to Chengdu, China to participate in the prestigious Sichuan University Summer Immersion Program. We took classes with a cohort of students from select programs around the world, taught by faculty from top universities across the globe. Twenty-three CCI students from Kent State were selected to be CCI’s 2016 Sichuan Scholars. Each received scholarships from CCI and Sichuan University to make this study-abroad program more affordable.
As a visual communicator, I chose the medium of photography as a means of interpreting the culture of Sichuan. The style of shooting was moreso architectural, but it manages to exhibit small slices of life for students, workers, and families of Chengdu.
